Abstract

This community service article describes the optimization of agricultural potential and children's literacy in Sirube-rube Gunung Purba Village, Dolok Pardamean District, Simalungun Regency. The program responded to priority partner problems, including fluctuating farm income, limited use of agricultural technology, waste management issues, poultry health risks, and children's basic literacy needs. The activity was conducted from 5 to 24 February 2024 through observation, interviews, documentation, education, counseling, and participatory assistance involving village officials, farmers, children, and local community members. The results show that the program helped partners identify agricultural and livestock potential, strengthen awareness of small business development, improve environmental hygiene, and provide additional learning support for children. The main outputs included a map of village problems and solutions, community education on agriculture and microbusinesses, literacy assistance, environmental clean-up, and recommendations for follow-up programs. The program confirms that community service based on local potential can strengthen village empowerment when implemented through collaboration among universities, village government, and community groups.
